On December 7th, 2019, MicroBT released a running video of WhatsMiner M30S SHA256 server, announcing the successful launch of the new generation of the WhatsMiner M30 server, both the hashrate and the power ratio broke the new industry records!
Soon cybtc.com received the sample of WhatsMiner M30S-88T. Here is the third-party experience evaluation of WhatsMiner M30S-88T server from Caiyun team.
Official Specifications of WhatsMiner M30S-88T
Appreance of WhatsMiner M30S-88T
he package of WhatsMiner M30S-88T is simple because it is the sample and it is the same as the M20S package), the package size of the whole machine is 485x230x355mm, the logistics weight is 11.4kg, which is a little lighter than WhatsMiner M20S-68T (12.3kg) ▼
Here is the official picture of the M30S packaging to be used in the near future, which is consistent with M20S. In addition to the logistics identification, the outer packaging carton is labeled with information such as the model number, hashrate and SN number.
Using pearl foam packaging inside which is similar to WhatsMiner M20S-68T ▼
The overall appearance of WhatsMiner M30S-88T is the same as the M20S-68T, and it is still a single cylinder design. The appearance size is 390x150x225mm and the weight is 10.5kg ▼
The difference between M30S-88T and M20S-68T is that the power supply is replaced with a flat style, which reduces the height of the whole machine by 15mm, and the weight of the whole machine is 0.9kg lighter than the M20S-68T.▼
On the side is the logo of M30S-88T, and on the other side is information such as precautions▼
The whole machine uses one input, one output and two fans for cooling, and the air inlet fan is equipped with a metal protective cover. It is caused by the metal protective cover pressing the fan blades, as long as the metal protective cover is pulled out a little) ▼
WhatsMiner M30S-88T Details
Next, let's see M30S power consumption. Inside the WhatsMiner M30S-88T, remove the four fixing screws around the control board, remove the power supply regulator line on the control board and the data line connected to the hash board, and then remove the control board▼
The WhatsMiner M30S-88T server uses the H3 control board. It is connected to the hash board through the cable of the adapter board. The panel interface and buttons are the same as before.▼
The control board is also marked with the model, hashrate, SN code, and network card MAC address. ▼
The WhatsMiner M30S-88T comes standard with a power supply model P21-GB-12-3300 ▼
The WhatsMiner M30S-88T power supply has made some changes in the shape. Compared with the previous model, the height has been reduced and the length has been extended to the position aligned with the air outlet fan. ▼
WhatsMiner M30S-88T uses 16A power cord for the power supply, and the socket position is also adjusted to the middle ▼
The cooling of the WhatsMiner M30S-88T uses two 14038 12V 7.2A fans▼
The fan power (7.2A) of the WhatsMiner M30S-88T is lower than that of the M20 series (9A), which reduces not only the power consumption, but also the noise.▼
The front fan uses a 6-core flat interface, and the rear fan uses a 4-core 4P interface. ▼
The WhatsMiner M30S-88T chassis is made of aluminum alloy die-casting, and the hash board is inserted and fixed through the groove, which is closely arranged.▼
The WhatsMiner M30S-88T has 3 built-in hash boards, each of which has 148 Samsung 8nm ASIC chips, a total of 444
The hash board is covered by heat sinks on both sides, coated with thermal grease in the middle, and reinforced with 26 spring screws ▼
The following figure is a bare view of the hash board after the hash board is officially removed.

WhatsMiner M30S-88T Installation Configuration
Open the box and check that the miner wires have not fallen off or abnormal noises. Plug the machine into a power cable and a network cable. Enter the local network router to find the IP address named "MicroBT" or use the MAC address of the network card or download the Shenma miner management tool. Find the IP address of the miner▼
Open the browser and enter the IP address of the miner found in the address bar (multiple miners can be directly operated in the WhatsMiner Tool) to enter the login page. The default username and password are: admin Console home▼
Click "Configuration / CGMiner Configuration" in the upper menu bar to enter the pool setting interface to modify the pool information ▼
Modify "Pool 1" main mining pool address
Modify "Pool 1 worker" miner name (see the pool help)
Modify "Pool 1 password" miner password (any alphanumeric)
Modify the backup pools "Pool 2" and "Pool 3" as required. After setting, click the "Save & Apply" button to save and apply the set configuration.▼
One thing to note is that when modifying the mining pool, you need to click the pool address bar first, and then select "Custom" in the drop-down menu to modify the address. ▼
Click "status / Overview" to view system and firmware version information ▼
Click "Configuration / Interfaces" to change the default IP address acquisition method from automatic acquisition to static IP address ▼
Click "status / CGminer Status" to return to the homepage to check the current running status of the miner, select "system / reboot" to restart the machine ▼
WhatsMiner M30S-88T Test Data
Test ambient noise value is 44 dB▼
The WhatsMiner M30S-88T will automatically tune frequency within half an hour after it is turned on. At this stage, the hashrate fluctuates at 24T. After half an hour, the program will automatically restart. The hashrate value will reach the standard. The machine runs normally. Temperature conditions: The hash board temperature is 71-72 degrees, the air inlet is 25.6 degrees, the air outlet is 60.4 degrees, and the side temperature of the machine is 36.1 degrees▼
Power supply temperature: 55 degree for the air outlet; 31.3 degree for the copper connection; 26 degree for the power cord ▼
When the machine is running normally, the noise level is 85.7 dB, and the operating power consumption is 3345W, which is consistent with the official 3344W.▼
After Caiyun team conducted a 24-hour test on the WhatsMiner M30S-88T, the hashrate is as follows: The average hashrate displayed on the console is about 88.41T ▼
The hashrate received by the mining pool for 24 hours is 89.11T, and the hashrate is stable. The power ratio of the WhatsMiner M30S-88T is calculated to be 37.53W / T ▼
WhatsMiner M30S-88T Evaluation Summary
The official said that the M30 series will also have other models, the specific parameters will be announced later
At this point, the evaluation of Caiyun team is over. WhatsMiner M30S SHA256 server is with 88T hashrate and 37.55W/T power ratio. The test results have really shocked the editor.
For the full range of WhatsMiner M30 series SHA256 server whose power consumption ratio will be lower than 50W/T. Through the test of M30S, it can be foreseen that the WhatsMiner, which has always adhered to the "visible success" principle, has really leaded the industry to the new era!
